SitePerfector vs ChatGPT
ChatGPT can read one search results page. It cannot see search volume, your site, or who holds a topic across all the queries in it.
ChatGPT has been able to search the web since 5 February 2025, so it can fetch a results page and tell you what is on it. It cannot measure search demand, it has never seen your site, and it reads one query at a time rather than a whole topic. SitePerfector does those three things, and shows the data behind each one.

SitePerfector: themes, topics and pages for one market, with the decision per topic.
Who each one is for
ChatGPT
General assistant
Anyone who wants a fast thinking partner for brainstorming, outlines, first drafts, and an explanation of any SEO idea at whatever level they need it. OpenAI sells it as a general assistant, not as an SEO product. If you publish a few times a year and like doing your own research, a good prompt covers most of the job.
SitePerfector
Topic-first SEO
Site owners and small teams who want that speed with search data attached. You get demand taken from keyword data, the live results read across a whole topic, and your own pages laid over the map, with the reasoning shown so you can check every call. We use language models too, for drafting once the topic is decided.
How the two approaches differ
Keyword tools hand you data and leave the decision to you. Topic-first SEO hands you a decision, with the reason and the competitors named. The method itself is explained in Topic-first SEO: what it is and why it works. This page only shows the contrast.
ChatGPT
You start with
A prompt, and whatever the model can pull in. With search on it fetches a results page for one query: about ten links and their titles.
You publish
The page the conversation landed on. That conversation cannot tell you how many people search for it, or which sites you would have to outrank to get the traffic.
What you get
- ✕You get search volumes with no source behind them.
- ✕You get one query at a time, about ten links, never the whole topic.
- ✕You get a content plan written without any sight of what you have already published.
- ✕You get reasoning that lives in a chat, not a map you can reopen next month.
SitePerfector
You start with
Your whole market, read from live search results and grouped into themes, topics and pages. Up to 1,500 keyword ideas are vetted per map. Around a hundred earn a place, and you can see what was set aside.
You publish
The page worth writing next, with the sites you would be beating named and a blueprint built from what the top results cover and the gap they leave. You write it, edit an AI draft, or hand the brief to a writer.
What you get
- ✓You get search demand taken from keyword data, with the numbers shown.
- ✓You get the live results read per topic, with the sites you would be beating named.
- ✓You get your own pages on the map: covered, off the map, or ranking without you knowing.
- ✓You get a decision per topic, saved with the options that were ruled out and the reason.

Facts about ChatGPT checked 3 Sep 2026 on their own pages. The sources are listed at the bottom of this page.
Three differences you can check
1.ChatGPT gives you search volumes it did not measure. SitePerfector takes volume from keyword data.
ChatGPT will return a monthly search volume for any keyword you name, and that number is produced by the model rather than measured. Search Engine Land wrote in December 2024 that ChatGPT "does not have access to search volume and other metrics the way keyword tools like Google Keyword Planner, Semrush and Ahrefs do", and that it is "confident but wrong", "delivering data presented as a fact but is flat-out wrong". A produced number and a measured number look the same on the screen. SitePerfector takes volume from keyword data. The model organises the evidence and drafts the page after the decision is made.
Ask ChatGPT for the monthly search volume of three keywords in your niche, then ask it where those numbers came from. Put the same three into Google Keyword Planner, which is free, and compare.

2.ChatGPT reads one query. SitePerfector reads every query in the topic.
With search on, ChatGPT fetches a results page and tells you what is on it: about ten links for one query. A topic is made of many related queries, and the useful questions are which of them people search for, which ones a site your size can hold, and which sites hold the ground across all of them. None of that is on a single results page. SitePerfector reads roughly 40,000 ranked positions per market map and returns a call per topic: own it, build up to it, or leave it, with the competitors named.
Run the free What Ranks Here on one keyword from a topic you care about and read what kind of page holds the results. Then ask ChatGPT the same question and compare the two answers.

3.ChatGPT has not crawled your site. SitePerfector puts every one of your pages on the map.
Any content plan ChatGPT writes is a plan for a site it has not seen. It does not know which of your posts serve no demand, which subject you covered three times in three thin posts, or which terms you already rank for on page two. SitePerfector crawls your site and lays every page over the market map: covered, off the map, and ranking without you knowing. That last group comes from your own pages, so no chat can produce it. I look at it first.
Open ChatGPT and ask which of your published pages to improve first, without pasting anything in. Note what it bases the answer on.

Questions
Is SitePerfector a ChatGPT alternative?
For deciding what to publish, yes. For thinking out loud it is no replacement, and ChatGPT is better at brainstorming than any SEO tool, so keep it. SitePerfector supplies what a chat cannot: demand from keyword data, the live results per topic, and your own site laid over both.
Can ChatGPT do keyword research?
It can produce a keyword list from a description of your business, and that is a useful first step. Search Engine Land recommends exactly that: use it to prepare seed keywords, then run them against a keyword tool. What it cannot do is measure demand, which is why the volumes it returns have no source.
Does Google penalise content written with ChatGPT?
No. Google's own guidance on AI-generated content rewards quality however the page was produced. We use language models for drafting too. What we argue for is grounding: knowing what the page is about, and whether anyone is searching for it.
Can I use both?
Yes, and most people should. Decide the topic in SitePerfector, take the blueprint, and use ChatGPT to argue with your angle or to loosen a stuck paragraph. Nothing on either side stops you.
