SitePerfector vs Ahrefs
Ahrefs is the best backlink and keyword lookup in the industry. SitePerfector reads your market and tells you which page to write next.
SitePerfector is not a replacement for the Ahrefs keyword or backlink database. It does the step after the lookup: it reads the live search results for your market, clusters them into a topic tree, lays your existing pages over that tree, and names the next page to write. If what you came for is cheaper link or keyword data, stay with Ahrefs.

Who each one is for
Ahrefs
SEO data suite
Professionals and teams who do link analysis, competitive research and keyword lookups as part of the job. Their homepage says marketers at 44% of the Fortune 500 use it. The $129 entry plan, the per-seat pricing and the add-on shelf are all aimed at a team, or at one person whose whole day is SEO.
SitePerfector
Topic-first SEO
Site owners and small teams who have a site and a subject but no plan. The open question is which pages are worth building, in what order, and why. SitePerfector answers that, then gives you a blueprint for each page it puts on the list.
How the two approaches differ
Keyword tools hand you data and leave the decision to you. Topic-first SEO hands you a decision, with the reason and the competitors named. The method itself is explained in Topic-first SEO: what it is and why it works. This page only shows the contrast.
Ahrefs
You start with
You start with a lookup. Site Explorer tells you what is true about a domain and Keywords Explorer what is true about a keyword, and then you export the rows into a spreadsheet.
You publish
You publish whatever you grouped and picked yourself. The Content Kit will grade and guide the draft, as a paid add-on from $99 a month.
What you get
- ✕You end up with lookups and exports, and the decision about what to publish is still yours to make.
- ✕Keyword Difficulty counts referring domains to the top ten pages and ignores the pages themselves.
- ✕Nothing in the suite lays your existing pages over demand and shows you what you have not covered.
- ✕The content tooling and the AI mention tracking are priced as separate products on top of the plan.
SitePerfector
You start with
You start with your market, read from live search results and clustered into themes, topics and pages. Up to 1,500 keyword ideas are vetted per map and around a hundred earn a place, and you can see what was set aside and why.
You publish
You publish the page the map puts next, from a blueprint built out of the pages that rank today and the questions they leave unanswered. You write it yourself, edit an AI draft, or hand the brief to a writer.
What you get
- ✓You get a topic tree: themes, topics and pages, in the order worth building them.
- ✓Every topic carries a call, own it, build up to it or leave it, with the competing sites named.
- ✓Your own pages sit on the map, so you can see what is covered, what is missing and what already ranks.
- ✓Instead of a bought difficulty score, we read the live results page for each topic.
What each one does, job by job
Rows marked their strength are jobs Ahrefs does better than SitePerfector.
| Job to be done | Ahrefs | SitePerfector |
|---|---|---|
|
Backlink, PPC and keyword database their strength |
Yes AhrefsBot is their own crawler, which is why the link index belongs to them rather than a data vendor. |
No We have no link data and no ad data, so keep Ahrefs if link analysis is your job. |
|
Look up a keyword: volume, clicks, parent topic, SERP history their strength |
Yes Keywords Explorer answers in every market they cover, and it leads the category. |
Partly Volumes come from the same data vendors but only for your market, so this is not a general lookup tool. |
|
Estimate a competitor's organic traffic and top pages their strength |
Yes Site Explorer sizes the traffic and Content Explorer finds the pages that already work. |
Partly We name who ranks across your topic tree, but we do not size their traffic. |
|
Judge whether a long-tail keyword is winnable, and name who you would be beating |
Partly Keyword Difficulty is based on the number of referring domains to the top ten pages, and their docs say it ignores on-page factors. |
Yes We read the live results for each topic and name the sites standing in your way. |
|
Lay your existing pages over demand |
No Site Audit crawls for technical issues and Rank Tracker follows a keyword list you supply. |
Yes A crawl of your site puts every page on the map as covered, missing, or ranking without you knowing. |
|
Tell you the single next page to write, with the reasoning shown |
No Keywords Explorer and Content Explorer hand you candidates, and grouping and choosing is your work. |
Yes You get a prioritized list of what to create, improve and leave, and you can open any topic to read the reasoning. |
|
Track brand mentions in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity their strength |
Yes Brand Radar tracks five prompts on the $129 Lite plan, with prompt packs from $50/mo or a standalone product from $199/mo. |
No We do not track AI mentions, because AI answers cite what ranks and that is the work we support. |
|
Free public tools before you pay their strength |
Yes There is a permanently free tier for sites you verify you own, plus free backlink, difficulty and authority checkers. |
Yes What Ranks Here, the Commodity Content Scanner and the AI-Tell Detector are free at /tools. |
Price |
$129/mo Lite, $249 Standard and $449 Advanced, plus a $29 Starter plan capped at 200 credits. Annual billing saves 17% and the Content Kit is a paid add-on from $99/mo. The paid plans have no free trial, but there is a permanently free tier for sites you verify you own. |

Facts about Ahrefs checked 3 Sep 2026 on their own pages. The sources are listed at the bottom of this page.
Three differences you can check
1.Ahrefs Keyword Difficulty counts referring domains. SitePerfector reads the results page for each topic.
Ahrefs documents the score in its help centre. KD "is based on the number of referring domains the Top 10 ranking pages for a given keyword have", and it "does not take into consideration any on-page SEO factors" (source). On a head term that is a reasonable measure. On the long tail, where a small site can compete, page one is often a forum thread, a video and a product listing, none of which got there on links. In our own measurement, 8 of 400 long-tail keywords came back with a difficulty value. We read the live results for each topic instead and name the sites you would be beating.
Put one long-tail phrase from your own niche into Keywords Explorer and read the KD cell, then open the SERP overview underneath it and look at what kind of pages are ranking. Then try harbor freight air compressor, which has 49,500 searches a month and returns a difficulty of 0.

2.Ahrefs answers what is true about a domain or a keyword. SitePerfector answers which page to write next.
Site Explorer tells you what is true about a domain and Keywords Explorer what is true about a keyword. Both are excellent, and both stop one step before the work: grouping the export, deciding which keywords one page can hold, judging which of those pages your site can take, and starting to write. SitePerfector reads roughly 40,000 ranked positions per market map and comes back with a call on every topic: own it, build up to it, or leave it, with the competing sites named. You can open any topic and read why it was ruled in or out.
Open the topic coverage map and the competitor landscape. Those two screens produce the call. In Ahrefs the nearest thing is a Keywords Explorer filter you build and interpret yourself.

3.SitePerfector has no link index, and none is planned.
SitePerfector is not a replacement for the Ahrefs keyword or backlink database. We hold none of that data, at any price, and Ahrefs has spent fifteen years crawling for its index. If cheaper backlink data is what you came for, stay where you are, or compare Ahrefs against Semrush and Moz. I would keep Ahrefs for links. Two costs are worth knowing before you compare: the Content Kit that turns the data into a page is a paid add-on from $99 a month on top of a $129 plan, and the $29 Starter plan is capped at 200 credits that cannot be topped up.
Open the Ahrefs pricing page, add the add-ons you would actually use to the plan you would buy, and look for a trial button. The paid plans do not have one, and the free tier only covers sites you verify you own.

When to choose Ahrefs, and when to choose SitePerfector
Choose Ahrefs if
- Link analysis, link prospecting or a backlink audit is a real part of your week.
- You are shopping for cheaper backlink data, which SitePerfector does not have, so stay with Ahrefs or compare it with Semrush and Moz.
- You want the deepest keyword lookup available and you are happy to do the grouping yourself.
- You want AI mention tracking with a real product behind it and a budget to meter it.
Choose SitePerfector if
- You have a site and a subject, and the open question is which pages to build, in what order, and why.
- You want every recommendation to name the sites you would be beating, so you can check the call yourself.
- You looked up the difficulty score for your best long-tail terms and found the cell empty.
- You already pay for a data suite and still open a blank page on Monday without knowing what to write.
Questions
Is SitePerfector an Ahrefs alternative?
For deciding what to publish, yes. For link and keyword lookups, no. Ahrefs answers what is true and we answer what to do about it, so running both is a normal setup: the map here, the lookups there.
Does SitePerfector have backlink data?
No, and it is not on the roadmap. Ahrefs runs its own crawler and has spent fifteen years on that index, and nothing we have built touches it. If link data is what you need, keep Ahrefs and use us for the part it leaves to you.
Does SitePerfector track AI visibility like Brand Radar?
No. Ahrefs sells that as a separate product and it works. Our position is that AI answers cite what ranks, so the work that gets you cited is the work that gets you ranked, and we would rather build the map than a second dashboard.
Can I use both?
Yes. Decide the page in SitePerfector, then run the link and keyword lookups in Ahrefs. Nothing on either side stops you.
